It is very intimidating for me when I hear some of the things that come out of my kids mouths. Intimidating might not be the correct word here, but it is hard to know what word truly fits the situation. Take for example when I was driving down the road the other day and my son shouts at the person in front of us, "Come on Moron, where did you learn how to drive." Man, did my son just say that? What was he thinking? What are they teaching these kids in school nowadays? When I turned around to correct him, he simply shrugged and said, "I learned that from you." OUCH... You know what I am talking about. Those are the painful moments in life where we just sit back and acknowledge that we have a long way to go.
I find it very interesting that in the Bible the tongue is referred to as a two-edged sword, and the Word of God is as well. We can see in Proverbs where it talks about using the tongue in a negative fashion, and challenges us to put a guard around about it. Then in Hebrews 4:12, it states "For the word of God is living and active. Sharper than any double-edged sword, it penetrates even to dividing soul and spirit, joints and marrow; it judges the thoughts and attitudes of the heart." In closing, the tongue is meant to be used with wisdom and power speaking life into the very dead souls of man. Not to bring death throughcondemnation and curses. I challenge you to exercise wisdom and speak words of life in this dying world.
