Financial Advice: A Simple Solution for your Spending Plan
As a Financial Advisor, over the years I have strived to find a Budgetary Software program that would meet my needs, and those of my customers. However, after trying such programs as Quicken, Quickbooks, and MS Money, they fell short of what I was needing. Those programs are great for inputting financial information after the fact, but they do not give you clear direction on where to tell your money to go.
About 5 years ago, I spent some time putting together a nice fancy budget with graphs, charts, and formulas. The only problem was it took up about ten pages, and I never used it. I have always been taught in business to never have a Business Plan that is longer than one page, and that you can manage daily. I decided to take my advice, and formulate a one page plan. It was at that time that I switched from calling it a "Budget" to a "Spending Plan." A budget by definition is very restrictive and past tense in so many ways. A Spending Plan on the other hand is so positive, liberating, and freeing. It enables you to tell your money where to go.
I have attached a sample of this Spending Plan for anyone to use. On this Excel spreadsheet, you will need to scroll down to see the instructions. In order for this process to work, I encourage you to follow it to the T. Many people have found freedom and liberation in their finances by adopting this method. If you have any questions regarding this, you can drop me an e-mail through the "Contact" tab at the top of the page.
